Knox Mountain Park access restricted for hill climb event this weekend
Kelowna’s Knox Mountain Park will see several closures this weekend as the long-running Knox Mountain Hill Climb event takes over the area.
The race takes place Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, but closures begin ahead of the event. Starting at noon on Thursday, May 15, Knox Mountain Drive will be fully closed for setup and is expected to reopen Monday afternoon. The base of Knox Mountain, Crown Lookout and Knox Mountain Drive will be closed to the general public from Thursday through Monday, with access granted only to ticket holders.
The park will remain open to visitors until the end of the day Friday, May 16, but parking will be limited. Both the main parking lot and the Poplar Point Drive parking area will close Thursday at 6 p.m. and reopen Tuesday, May 20, at noon. Parking along the north side of Broadway Avenue will be restricted starting Thursday at 5 p.m. and remain in effect until Monday, May 19.
Ongoing utility work in Kelowna’s North End may cause additional disruptions to parking and access. Visitors are asked to pay attention to posted signage and are encouraged to reduce traffic and congestion by walking, biking or carpooling where possible.
