Sarah McLachlan to play Kelowna on fall tour marking 30 years since hit album

Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan is returning to the stage later this year, with a stop in Kelowna confirmed as part of a new cross-country tour.

The Grammy and Juno Award-winning artist will mark 30 years since the release of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy by performing the entire album live during a newly announced national tour. The fall dates begin in British Columbia this October and include a show at Prospera Place in Kelowna on Fri., Oct. 17.

Originally released in 1993, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy became a major success for McLachlan, earning critical acclaim and commercial success. The album went platinum in Canada just weeks after its release and helped cement her status as a major voice in Canadian music.

McLachlan, 57, says the tour will not only revisit the landmark record in full but also feature songs from across her career.

In a statement released by the tour promoter, McLachlan called the anniversary run “a walk down memory lane,” noting how personal the album remains to her. She added she is excited to connect with fans across the country, especially after being forced to postpone tour plans last year due to vocal health issues.

“I am fully recovered and really looking forward to sharing this music again,” she said.

Tickets for the Kelowna concert go on sale to the general public through Live Nation at 10 a.m. PT on Fri., April 25. Pre-sales will be available two days earlier.

One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, a non-profit organization providing free music education and mentorship to youth in underserved communities.

The tour begins in Victoria before moving through a series of major cities across the country.
