Independent candidate enters Vernon and area election race

An Independent will have his name on the local ballots at the 2025 Federal Election.

Elections Canada confirmed Korry Zepik was running as an Independent in the Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee riding.

Zepik said on his website that he was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario, worked in the oil and gas sector, and was a member of the National Freestyle Ski Team.

On his website, Zepik said that “a privileged few” were in control and manipulating information during this technological age, and his mission is to prevent democracy from falling into the “stranglehold of an extremist technocracy.”

His website also had his values listed as:

  • Geographic and economic sovereignty
  • Sound sustainable economic strategy and fiscal accountability
  • Equality of rights, freedoms and opportunity
  • Justice, public safety and civil rights
  • Ecological wisdom and environmental health
  • Capable national defence
  • Respect, goodwill and kindness
  • Participatory democracy

General voting day for the 2025 Federal Election will take place Monday, April 28.

The other declared candidates for the Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee riding are Scott Anderson (Conservative Party), Dr. Anna Warwick Sears (Liberal), Leah Main ( NDP), Blair Visscher (Green Party of Canada) and Arsh Dhillon (People’s Party of Canada).
