Kelowna RCMP already issued hundreds of high-risk driving tickets in 2025

Police in Kelowna have been cracking down on high risk drivers.

Since January 1st, the RCMP have issued over 350 tickets for several offences.

Mounties said they issued 154 tickets were issued for speeding in a school zone; 34 for speeding elsewhere; 77 for use of electronic devices while driving; 47 for driving without insurance; and 24 for not having a driver’s licence.

Police added six tickets were issued for driving without due care or consideration, and five were issued for excessive speeding, including one to driver caught travelling at high speeds through a school zone.

During the crackdown, RCMP ordered 30 day prohibitions for 15 drivers, seven day prohibitions to two drivers, and three day prohibitions to seven others.

Police said they would continue to target people engaging in high-risk driving, such as excessive speeding, street racing and impaired driving, as the seasons change into spring and summer.

Anyone who sees some driving recklessly and putting other people in harms was was asked to report it to 911 or to call the Kelowna RCMP detachment at 250-762-3300.
