Alternative modes of transportation are coming back online in Vernon very soon, though under a new provider.

E-scooters and e-bikes, provided by Bird Canada, will be available for public use starting Monday, March 3, weather permitting.

“We are delighted to have been selected and trusted by the City of Vernon,” said Patrick Graham, General Manager of Bird Canada.

Bird Canada is thrilled to offer a sustainable, affordable, and convenient solution for residents to explore their city this summer.”

Neuron Mobility was the previous e-scooter and e-bike provider, but the city signed a one year contract with Bird Canada his past January to provide the scooters in 2025, with the option for annual extensions through to April of 2028.

“City staff have listened to community feedback and made adjustments to the program to better serve the needs of our residents,” Anne Huisken, Transportation Planner, said.

“The new provider was selected for their commitment to offering affordable options, improved parking solutions, and enhanced service.”

The city stated Bird Canada would attend community events in the spring and summer to provide the public with information about its shared e-bike and e-scooter program, including a pop-up event at Okanagan College on April 11, at the Vernon Community Expo on April 26, and at the Vernon Farmers’ Market throughout the season.
