Vernon Rec’s pool to reopen Tuesday

The closure of the Vernon Recreation Centre’s aquatic facility only lasted one day.

The pool area was closed Monday, January 27, due to a malfunction in the air handling system that is necessary for safety and comfort purposes.

The City of Vernon said the system had undergone temporary repairs and would be reopening to the public for drop-in swims and scheduled classes Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Permanent repairs would be done in the future as the city awaits the delivery of specialized parts, and the public will be informed of the closures necessary for the parts to be installed once that information is available.

The swimming pool at the Vernon Recreation Centre was closed Monday, Jan. 27, due to mechanical issues.

The City of Vernon said the air handling systems malfunctioned and, as air circulation is needed for safety and comfort purposes, the pool was closed for all drop-in swims and scheduled classes.

The city stated repairs would be done Monday afternoon and an update on when the pool could reopen would be provided as the work progressed.

Other areas of the Recreation Centre, such as the fitness gym, remained open Monday.
