Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are again calling on the public to assist in finding a man who has been missing for over a year.

Robert Lee Baines, 83, was reported missing after leaving on foot from a residence on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream on January 2, 2024.

Extensive searches were done in the surrounding area, including Kalamlaka Provincial Park, but they were fruitless and the man was not located.

More than a year after his disappearance, police have renewed their call for aid in the search for Baines.

“It’s now been over a year since Mr Baines was first reported missing,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.

“We’re renewing our appeal to remind everyone that Robert is still out there. We’re bringing the case back to the public’s attention, with the hope of generating new leads, finding Robert, and bringing closure to the family.”

Robert Bains was described as an 83-year-old man, standing 5’9″ (175cm) tall and weighing 200 lbs. (90 KG).

He was bald with brown eyes and was believed to be wearing a green tilly hat, green jacket, blue jeans, and brown hiking shoes when he went missing.
