Kelowna RCMP recovered a stolen vehicle during the evening hours of Thursday, Dec. 12.

Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 1000-block of Highway 33 and, after a search of the area, police located the vehicle with a potential suspect sitting inside.

The suspect fled on foot and Police Dog Services were called in and helped track the suspect to a nearby residence in the 400-block of Lester Rd.

Police obtained a search warrant, entered the home, and arrested the suspect, who was hiding in the basement.

The 35 year old male suspect, who is known to police, was arrested and remained in custody pending a court appearance Friday, Dec. 13.

“This was excellent work by our frontline officers with support of PDS to track and locate this suspect,” Inspector Jason Charney with the Kelowna RCMP, said.

“Our teams are extremely dedicated in ensuring individuals who commit these offences are brought before the courts.”

The investigation into the vehicle theft and flight from police remained ongoing Friday.
