GivingTuesday campaign will go in support of local seniors

The organization that provides services in support of North Okanagan seniors will seek public contributions to help with it’s programs this winter.

NexusBC Community Resource Centre will participate in GivingTuesday on Dec. 3, 2024, with the goal of collecting money to support seniors as they pay for rent, heat, groceries, medication, and essential items like hearing aids, dentures and eye glasses.

“Many people in our community know that we help seniors, but few know the extent of our services,” Lee Brinkman with NexusBC said, noting the organization has over 100 volunteers that support seniors with a range of services such as providing transport to medical appointments, filing their tax returns, hosting social activities, and providing financial aid to access food or medical equipment.

“We are asking the public to donate as part of Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3, to help us support our local seniors,” Brinkman said.

“Donations received will go to helping low-income seniors through grocery gift cards, assistance with dentures and hearing aids, good food boxes, programming and more.”
