The 2024 Golden Burger Challenge had record-breaking success.

The fourth annual event that saw a dozen Vernon restaurants participating sold nearly 3,000 burgers in support of the North Okanagan Community Life Society (NOCLS), an organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities in the community.

Through those sales, the Golden Burger Challenge raised over $30,000, which will go directly towards NOCLS programs that will help improve the lives of individuals with disabilities in Vernon and the North Okanagan.

There were 2,900 votes cast in the challenge, and the results were as follows:

  • Gold Trophy: Cambium Cider Co.
  • Silver Trophy: Diner on 6
  • Bronze Trophy: The Rosters Sport Club Bar and Grill
  • Most Burgers Sold: Alexanders Beach Pub
  • Judges Award: Bourbon Street Bar and Grill
  • Celebrity Judges Award: Sir Winston’s Pub
  • Service Award: Alexander’s
  • Originality Award: Cambium
  • Presentation Award: The Roster
  • Creativity Award: Diner on 6
  • Yumminess Award: The Match Eatery

The other participating restaurants that did not earn a Golden Burger Challenge Award were the Kal Eatery, Kelly O’Bryans, Mr. Mikes, Silverstar Brewing Company, and the Longhorn Pub.

In addition to selling burgers and raising money, the Golden Burger Challenge also generated more than 8,000 social media impressions, amplifying the message and mission of NOCLS.

Looking ahead to 2025, NOCLS plans to build on this year’s Challenge and see more participation and more money raised for the cause.
