Time to Check Smoke, Carbon Monoxide Detectors
VFRS: Check smoke detectors as clocks fall back
Nov 2, 2024 | 8:27 AM
The clocks “fall back” Sunday, Nov. 3, and Vernon Fire Rescue Services stated the time change is a good reminder for people to check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
“Remember, working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors save lives,” Fire Chief David Lind said.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom outside each sleeping area, and on every level of a home. They should be mounted on the ceiling or high on a wall, and tested every month.
Smoke alarms should not, however, be installed in the kitchen, as they can be set off by cooking.
