Nearly a third of local registered voters cast early ballots in the provincial election
Turnouts for the local ridings in the 2024 Provincial General Election were quite high, with nearly a third of all eligible ballots cast in advance.
ElectionsBC said there were 3,287 early votes cast in the Vernon-Lumby riding on the last day of advance voting Wednesday, Oct. 16, while another 3,684 were cast in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding. Both those figures were the highest single day turnouts for advance voting in the ridings.
The votes brought the turnout total for Vernon-Lumby up to 14,597, with another 14,470 total votes cast in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding.
Those totals both represented 32 per cent of the eligible voters that had registered by October 7.
