Almost 5,800 advance votes cast locally Tuesday

Advance voting for the 2024 Provincial General Election picked up again in the local ridings Tuesday, Oct. 16.

ElectionsBC said more than 2,800 advance votes were cast in the Vernon-Lumby riding Tuesday, and another nearly 3,000 ballots were filled in and submitted in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding.

Those were the second-highest advance vote figures for the ridings, both falling just behind the first early voting day totals.

The advance votes Tuesday brought the total votes cast in advance in Vernon-Lumby to over 11,000, while the riding that includes Coldstream had seen more than 10,000 votes cast in the five days of advance voting.

The local ballots cast Tuesday were part of 181,669 cast throughout B.C. A total of 778,424 votes were cast throughout the province in the first five days of advance voting.

The final day to cast an early ballot for the 2024 Provincial General Election is Wednesday, Oct. 16. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations.

  • Vernon-Lumby
    • Kal Tire Place, 3445 43 Ave.
    • Peace Lutheran Church, 1204 30 Ave.
    • Whitevalley Community Centre, 2250 Shields Ave.
  • Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream
    • Coldstream Community Hall, 9909 Kalamalka Road.
    • Rutland Centennial Hall, 215 Shepherd Road.
    • Winfield Memorial Hall, 10130 Bottom Wood Lake Road.

Final voting day is Saturday, Oct. 19.
