Local candidates discuss key issues with Vernon Matters

Six of the eight local candidates have taken the opportunity to speak on a series of key issues.

Vernon Matters reached out to all eight of the local candidates running in the Vernon-Lumby and Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream ridings for th upcoming provincial election.

Of those candidates, six agreed to an interview to discuss issues ranging from housing to healthcare, from affordability to climate change, and from public education to jobs and the economy.

All of the local candidates pointed to affordability being the key issue local constituents currently face.

Two of the local candidates, Tara Armstrong, the Conservative Party of B.C.’s representative for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, and Andrew Rose, the B.C. Green Party candidate for the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding, did not respond to multiple interview requests from Vernon Matters.

All candidates were sent multiple requests to be interviewed, and all who participated were asked the same questions.

Early voting for the 2024 Provincial General Election opened Thursday, Oct 10.

General voting day will be held Oct. 19.
