UPDATE: Hold and Secure order lifted for Seaton Secondary

The Hold and Secure at Seaton Secondary was lifted after just shy of an hour Friday.

The order for students and staff to stay indoors was first issued at 11:38 a.m., Oct. 11.

A letter from the school, provided to Vernon Matters, confirmed it was lifted at 12:10 p.m.

“There was no direct threat to the safety and wellbeing of our students,” the letter from the school said.

“If your child has questions, please reassure them that the RCMP and the school worked together to deal with the situation and everyone was safe at all times.”

The RCMP had not provided details on the incident that led to the Hold and Secure as of time of publication.

Students at W.L Seaton Secondary were kept in their classes Friday morning.

A letter sent out by the school just before 11:40 a.m., explained the school was “in a Hold and Secure out of an abundance of caution while RCMP investigate a report.”

The letter, which was provided to Vernon Matters, noted that all students and staff were safe at the time, and that updates would be provided when available.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Vernon Matters.
