The new trail network in Coldstream has opened.

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) announced the Coldstream Ranchlands Trail network into the Vernon Trails and Natural Spaces service was completed Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The property is a 126 hectare natural space with a new 6.3 kilometre multi-use loop trail around the perimeter.

The west side of the loop also serves as a purpose-built mountain bike climbing trail that riders can use to access Crown lands that are set aside to be used for the multi-use Vernon Hill trail network. An additional one kilometre stretch of the trail was built to connect the Ranchlands with the Grey Canal Trail.

“We are excited to see the Coldstream Ranchlands Trail officially open to the public, offering residents and visitors a beautiful and accessible outdoor space to explore,” Bob Fleming, Greater Vernon Advisory Committee Chair and Director for RDNO Electoral Area B, said.

“This trail network not only enhances recreational opportunities in our region but also respects the ecological and agricultural significance of the land. We look forward to seeing the community enjoy this natural space while ensuring its preservation for the future.”

The central portion of the park remained undeveloped to serve as an ecological area for the diverse vegetation and wildlife, and park users are reminded to stay on the trails.
