Boil water advisory issued for Alexis Park area

Oct 2, 2024 | 11:30 AM

A precautionary Boil Water Advisory was issued for the Alexis Park area Wednesday, Oct. 2, due to watermain work.

The advisory was issued by Greater Vernon Water (GVW) for the area around the intersection of Alexis Park Drive and 30th Avenue due to ongoing construction and upgrading to the water main.

The pipes in the area are being replaced due to their age and condition so they are not vulnerable to breaks, which have occurred recently.

With the work ongoing, people in the area are advised to bring their tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking, using to prepare and make food or drinks including baby formula and ice, and for brushing teeth.

GVW noted the work may cause area properties to have reduced water pressure, discolored tap water, or air in the pipes. In these instances people are advised to run their water on cold until it turns clear, adding it is best to do this using an outside tap.
