A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle along Highway 97 in Kelowna Thursday was not killed in the crash.

It was erroneously reported that the person died in the collision, but B.C. Emergency Health Services said paramedics attended the scene near Burtch Road and transported the person to hospital.

Kelowna RCMP added the individual was alive and still in hospital as of Friday morning. Exact details on the condition of the person was not provided.

An eastbound lane of Highway 97 was closed off to investigate the collision Thursday, though police did not disclose any findings from that investigation.
