The communities at risk of the Hullcar Mountain wildfire did not issue any changes to their evacuation orders Friday morning.

The Splatsin First Nation, Township of Spallumcheen, and Columbia Shuswap Regional District kept their evacuation orders and alerts in place as of the morning of August 9, as the wildfire was still estimated at 700 hectares in size.

The evacuation orders and alerts in Township affect dozens of properties, which can seen here or in the images below.

    • 2160 to 2310 Deep Creek Road

    • 5214 Clcahl Rd
  • Alert
    • 1605 to 1915 Salmon River Road

People in the evacuation order area are advised to not stay there and to leave immediately, while people under alerts should prepare their grab-and-go bags with important documents, medicine and other items, and be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.

The Township of Spllumcheen’s Emergency Operation Centre’s (EOC) Reception Centre was set up at the Hassen Area, at 3315 Pleasant Valley Road, Armstrong, Friday.

The Splatsin First Nation said it’s EOC would monitor the blaze through the day, and advised evacuees to access supports in Armstrong.

Additionally, the CSRD is requiring all traffic entering evacuation order areas to have a Temporary Access Permit. The permits are valid for two hours from the time of entry to exit, and people using them must follow all directions by RCMP and traffic control personnel. The permits can be found online here.

The Splatsin First Nation also noted Friday that B.C. Hydro has tips for people who are forced to leave their homes during emergencies, and advises people review the document so they can better prepare their property.
