A man accused of a murder in Lumby will be back in court later this month.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said Vitali Stefanski made a brief virtual appearance in Vernon Supreme Court on Thursday.

Vitali is accused of the second-degree murder of his ex-wife, Tatjana Stefanski.

Tatjana was allegedly abducted from her home in Lumby on April 13 and her body was located in a rural area the following day.

Vitali, who the RCMP said was believed to be involved in the death, was found in the area and placed under arrest at the time.

He was later released while police conducted the investigation but due to safety concerns expressed by Tatjana’s family, the ex-husband was taken into custody once again.

Vitali Stefanski’s case had been adjourned several times since he made his first court appearance on June 24, and the B.C. Prosecution Service said he will be back in court on April 15, 2024, to review the case with his counsel.
