Indoor ice skating offered in Vernon to help beat the heat

The City of Vernon will be running some activities usually only seen in the winter so people can get out of the heat.

Throughout July and August, Recreation Services will be holding public skating in the Priest Valley Arena.

“We are excited to be able to offer public skating this summer, especially since it has been so hot outside,” Leah Walker, Vernon’s Manager of Customer Service, said.

“It is like a little taste of winter in the middle of summer.”

An updated schedule of the rink activities that includes the public skate times can be seen at Recreation Service’s website.

The city noted skate and equipment rentals were not available as of July 19, and did not indicate if rentals would be offered for the rest of the summer operations.

As usual, shinny hockey will run through the summer.
