Boil Water Before Consuming

Water Quality Advisory issued for Lavington following power outage

Jul 16, 2024 | 6:39 PM

Greater Vernon Water is advising Lavington area residents boil their tap water before consuming.

A Precautionary Water Quality Advisory was issued for the area customers as a power outage in the area resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity in the system.

The Regional District of North Okanagan said the water main was being flushed and the water tested to ensure it was safe to consume, but in the meantime the Precautionary Water Advisory will be in effect until 5 p.m. Friday, July 19.

Customers may experience low water pressure or discoloured water coming from their taps. In these instances, people should run the cold water until it becomes clear.

People are advised to bring tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before consuming, using to make or prepare food or drinks, including ice and baby formula, and before brushing their teeth.
