Vernon Community Arts Centre presents first-ever summer arts school

Jul 15, 2024 | 6:30 AM

The Vernon Community Arts Centre will be holding its inaugural Vernon Arts Summer School (VASS) next month.

The series of six, five-day workshops is for adults with diverse artistic backgrounds.

Scheduled for the first two weeks of August, the school offers a unique opportunity for artists to dive deep into their creative passions in an uninterrupted, immersive environment.

Hosted at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, VASS aims to connect students with fellow creatives, explore innovative techniques, and inspire through specialized workshops.

“Led by esteemed local and visiting art instructors, workshops include painting, ceramics, sculpture, fused glass, and natural dyeing. Participants, whether experienced artists or newcomers, receive expert guidance and support, fostering a welcoming and enriching experience for all,” a news release from the Arts Centre said.

The five days conclude with a reception to connect participants and showcase creations across all workshops.

“The Vernon Community Arts Centre is known for its vibrant and engaging educational art programs and Vernon Arts Summer School will be an extension of this high-quality programming,” Rodney Goodchild, VCAC Centre Manager, said.

“We are excited to welcome six experienced artists who will provide our community with the chance to extend their art knowledge through a variety of creative workshops.”
