UPDATE: Vehicle crashes into median on Highway 97

— UPDATE 3:35 p.m. Monday, July 15 —

One person was treated for injuries following the crash on Highway 97 Monday afternoon.

The City of Vernon said Vernon Fire Rescue Services attended the scene on the highway south of Vernon at approximately 12:30 p.m. July 15.

One person from the vehicle that struck the median was treated by paramedics.

B.C. Emergency Health Services told Vernon Matters in an email that the patient was treated at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital..

Vernon Fire Rescue assisted with directing traffic at the time.

DriveBC reported the scene was clear and traffic was fully flowing as of 3:17 p.m.

Vernon Matters has requested more information from Fire Rescue, the RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services.

Police say the crash on Highway 97 involved one vehicle.

Though two large trucks were seen on the side of the road, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said the crash at approximately 12:25 p.m. Monday, July 15, involved a vehicle that collided with the centre median.

Police were still on the scene as of the latest report and no other details were being provided at the time.

Traffic on the highway between Vernon and Lake Country was slowed down by a multi-vehicle crash Monday.

According to travelers, the collision appeared to involve three vehicles, two of them trucks, on the highway near turnoff to the Kalamalka Lakeview Drive Lookout.

The two trucks were pulled over to the side of the road, while a third vehicle had struck the centre median.

DriveBC was not reporting any slow-downs, but photos from showed traffic backed up as first responders attended the scene.

Vernon Matters has requested more information from the RCMP, Vernon Fire Rescue and B.C. Emergency Health Services on the cause of the crash, possible road closures, and the condition of those involved.
