Water service interruption for RDNO project

Jul 12, 2024 | 4:00 PM

Some residents in Lavington will be without water service for a couple of days next week.

The District of Coldstream said, as part of efforts by the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO) to maintain water quality and infrastructure, there will be a temporary disruption of water service to facilitate a water main tie-in affecting the following areas:

– Learmouth Road and School Road on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, 8:30 and 5:00 pm

– Learmouth Road and Angus Drive on Wednesday, July 17, 2024,8:30 and 5:00 pm

During this period, water service in these areas will be temporarily turned off.

To minimize the inconvenience, affected residents should take the following precautions:

  • Store an adequate supply of water for drinking, cooking, household needs, and sanitation purposes.
  • Ensure that faucets are turned off to prevent any damage once water service is restored.
  • Plan for any activities that may require water, such as bathing or laundry.

Following the water interruption, a 48-hour Water Quality Advisory will be in effect. As well, residents may notice reduced water pressure, air in the water, discoloration and/or increased turbidity (cloudiness). Residents are asked to run a cold tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.

The level of treatment provided by the RDNO will be maintained; however, residents may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
