‘Puppy cam’ puts smile on your face, relieves stress

If you’re looking for a little joy that only a puppy can bring, you can check out the livestream of a Vernon hobby farm.

Karen Smith, a registered Goldendoodle breeder at Silver Star Doodles, is showcasing their latest litter on YouTube.

The current litter was born April 28, with 13 healthy puppies, 7 boys and 6 girls, a rainbow litter with rare chocolate, black and blue merle, cream, chocolate brown and black, with a mix of straight, wavy and curly coats.

“We get a lot of enjoyment from watching the puppies as they do their active sleeping, stretching, piling up on top of each other, and learning to feed out of bowls, while still nursing from mom,” Smith said.

“It’s nice that puppy families and friends can view the puppies from wherever they are. My friend suggested live-streaming the puppies to relieve her stress at work. I thought why not share this joy and happiness?”

This is the first litter for Nyxie, the Smith’s two-year-old multi-generational Goldendoodle, who is the daughter of their first breeding dog, Ruby

With over 124,000 views, people are logging on to watch the daily livestream, to see the puppies play, eat, clean, sleep and go through their daily curriculum.

Cathy Tucker from Vernon said “Watching the puppies on the puppy cam brings a smile to my face every time I watch. Seeing the puppies and mom Nyxie brings me joy when I watch them.”

“Puppy therapy is the best therapy! Being able to check in on their progress every day and see how they’re developing is so fun to watch,” Anetha Kashuba of Vernon said.

Silver Star Doodles are a hands-on, boutique breeder, having one litter per year, with the puppies lovingly raised in their home.
