Fire crews douse grass-brush fire on private property

Firefighters from Coldstream and Lavington responded to a fire in grass and brush on private property on Coldstream Creek Road near Cosens Bay Road on Thursday afternoon.

Fire chief Fiona Morgenthaler Code told Vernon Matters the blaze was about 15 X 20 metres in size.

“The fire was aggressively actioned and extinguished, and cold trailing for hot spots was completed. Fifteen firefighters and multiple pieces of apparatus were on scene,” Morgenthaler Code said.

The fire chief says the investigator has yet to complete an investigation into the cause .
