Shanda Hill was a proud Canadian as she crossed the finish line of her latest endurance event.

The ultra athlete from Vernon completed the Bretzel Ultra Tri Quintuple in Colmar, France on Friday, posting a time of 106 hours and 44 minutes, beating her 2016 record of 117 hours.

Hill, who draped herself in a Canadian flag at the finish, placed 21st overall out of 44 competitors and 6th out of 11 women.

The week-long race featured a 19 km swim, 900 kms of cycling, and a 211 km run.

Hill’s team thanked all of her supporters for their role in this latest achievement.

“Your support has been invaluable. Join us in September when Shanda will take on the Triple Deca in Italy, the longest triathlon ever held by the IUTA. In Italy, she will swim 114 km, bike 5,400 km, and run 1,266 km. If you thought this race was intense, prepare for even more!,” a posting on Hill’s Facebook page stated.

Hill, who is sponsored by Rancho Vignola, Mattress King Liquidation Outlet, and Kyla Schleppe, is the first person to complete three Double Deca ultra triathlons in her career, and is one of just three people worldwide to conquer two Double Decas in a calendar year.

The 42-year-old has completed the equivalent of over 100 long-distance triathlon races in seven years, earning her a spot in the prestigious IUTA Hall of Fame.
