The stage is set for the return of one of the North Okanagan Hospice Society’s key fundraisers.

The Hospice Society (NOHS) said tickets are available for the Dancing With the Vernon Stars, which is slated to go on Sept. 28 at the Vernon Recreation Centre Auditorium for the first time since COVID-19 pandemic precautions were lifted.

The fundraising event will feature dance performances, a buffet style dinner, drinks, a silent auction, and other entertainment.

“I’m excited to see how each of the dancers brings their own unique personality to their performance,” NOHS Executive Director, Lisa Matthews, stated.

“Some of the dancers have dance training and experience, but for others, it’s their first time. They’ve been training hard at City Dance and we’re getting excited to see their special routines.”

Tickets are available through the NOHS website. Individual tickets area vailable for $175 each, and you can also book an 8-person table for $1,200.

Additionally, the participating dancers are taking some extra initiative to raise funds for NOHS.

The society said Susie and Brent Hellan held ‘Burger and Beer’ fundraisers at Vernon’s Cactus Club Cafe, and Jason Kankam gave massages for $50 each.

Kris Fuller and Ryan Sheepwash will host a ‘Dinner and a Dance’ at the Enderby Legion on July 6; Kari Sargent and Teresa Sanders will host a ‘Pool Party and Spa Day on July 7; and Rebecca and Sophia Barton will hold a Hot-Do Barbeque sale at the Save-on-Foods in Village Green Mall on July 20.

The dancers hope to raise $140,000 for NOHS through these initiatives, with the society noting over $16,500 had already been raised as of time of publication.
