Coldstream passes new bylaw to allow for more housing & increased density
The District of Coldstream is ready for the new provincial housing regulations aimed at increasing housing supply across the province.
District council adopted an updated zoning bylaw (Bylaw 1838) at its meeting June 24 to replace a previous bylaw.
“The bylaw was adopted to comply with new Province of British Columbia requirements coming out of the Homes for People plan, which mandates increased density on residential properties outside the Agriculture Land Reserve (ALR),” a news release from the district stated.
Coldstream says its new bylaw is intended to be easier to use for residents and builders, consolidating the number of small lot residential zones from 12 to just two, based on a property’s access to district water and sewer services.
