New & Easy Way For Local Groups to Fundraise

Jun 26, 2024 | 2:11 PM

Sports teams, community groups, and individual athletes now have a new possible source of funds. Introducing the Red Diamond Community Sponsorship Project.

The initiative was launched by Erik and Melissa Locke, owners of The Tile Guy Flooring and Renovations, as a new way for the local company to give back to the community. “If they’re buying and supporting us, we’re just sharing our profits and spreading it around the community,” said Melissa.

Through the referral program, customers themselves save on materials and can also choose which local group they’d like the support to go to. The customer will get 10% off and then we’ll kick in 5%,” explained Erik. “And if they spend over $1000, then we’ll match the 10%.”

Purchases that qualify for the 15-20% include:

  • Hardwood
  • Vinyl
  • Carpet
  • Tile
  • Adhesives and setting materials
  • Edging/Schluter
  • Stair Nosings

Labour costs are not included.

From hockey and curling to baseball and BMX biking, The Tile Guy has sponsored and supported countless teams over the years, but Melissa said the Red Diamond Community Sponsorship Project isn’t just for sports groups.

“It really can be passed out to anybody because we’re going to do it for any association that’s trying to raise money. It’s not picking and choosing who we’re going to sponsor. It’s inclusive of everyone,” stated Melissa.

She added the feedback has been that people like that there’s no timeline or deadline. No paperwork or registration also means the funds get to the organization without any lag time. There are just two simple steps:

  1. Let them know the team, club, or organization you are supporting at the time of purchase.
  2. Provide organization contact information.

Melissa commented that she knows through personal experience as a team manager that it can be challenging for parents to find time to raise money for kids’ teams. As a sports family, they also know firsthand that fees for youth sports are going up everywhere. One of the purposes of the Red Diamond Community Sponsorship Project is to help alleviate some of the financial pressures of social programming for families.

The initiative also offers an additional incentive to shop local, which keeps money in the community and helps local youth and groups. “You know, building healthy communities is so important and way more now than it ever was.”

The Tile Guy is at 4413 29th Street in Vernon and on Highway 97 in Lake Country.
