Update: Bridge reopens after sink hole repaired

Vehicles are once again able to use a bridge on Grandview Flats Road in Spallumcheen.

A small sink hole was discovered on the bridge on Saturday, June 22, which led to the span being closed as a precaution.

The township announced on Monday afternoon that repairs have been completed and the bridge is open again.

The municipality is thanking the public for their patience.

The bridge on Grandview Flats Road in Spallumcheen has been closed until further notice after a small sink hole was discovered.

“Upon investigation, crews have confirmed that a small sink hole has appeared in the path of travel and in an abundance of caution have closed access to the bridge until crews can perform a thorough assessment of the situation on Monday, June 24,” a news release from the township on Saturday at 4 p.m. stated.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and avoid that area.
