Late-spring snow possible on area highways

Environment Canada is warning of possible snow on highway mountain passes.

Environment Canada issued highway alerts for the Okanagan Connector, the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt and Merritt to Kamloops, Highway 3, and the Trans-Canada from Eagle to Rogers Pass Friday, June 14.

The weather agency warns the highways could see up to 5 centimetres of snow accumulating on the road Saturday and Sunday (June 15, 16).

“An upper low will bring a cool airmass to the BC Interior this weekend. The colder air along with occasionally heavy precipitation means the mountain passes can expect some snow through the weekend,” Environment Canada stated in its weather statement.
