20th annual People Place Garden Tour to feature nine gardens

Jun 3, 2024 | 6:30 AM

A local non-profit is showing off fabulous local gardens in the area as part of an annual fundraising event.

The 20th Annual People Place Garden Tour on Saturday June 8, has nine gardens to explore as part of a self-guided tour. The sites include two in West Vernon, three in the East Hill area, and two in Coldstream.

The tour, which will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is run by People Place, a non-profit society that provides secure office space for other non-profits and charities at below-market rates.

The People Place building in Vernon currently houses 11 other non-profits, including Community Foundation North Okanagan, Independent Living Vernon, Okanagan Advocacy and Resource Society, and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The organization also helps connect the agencies, and offers a central location for clients seeking local services.

People wishing to take part in the Garden Tours in support of People Place can purchase tickets at Blue Mountain Nursery, Briteland Farm and Garden, Nicholas Alexander Home and Garden, Nicholas Alexander Urban Gardener, Oopsie Daisy Flowers (formerly Harris Flowers), Swan Lake Market and Garden, the Flower Spot Garden Centre, and People Place.

Tickets are $20 each.

This year’s tour will include live music by local groups and the Vernon Community School. Ticket holders will have a chance to win raffle prizes, and will also receive a 20 per cent discount at the Easthill Eatery and Rail Trail Cafe & Market on the day of the event.
