Vernon project will shut down part of road for summer

Part of 32nd Avenue in Vernon’s East Hill neighbourhood will be closed for several months for the next phase of a city road project.

The reconstruction of 32nd Avenue, between 15th and 18th Streets near the Lakeview Market and Community Music School, will see aging water and sewer lines replaced, along with road and sidewalk pavement.

“Work is scheduled to start as early as Friday, June 7, and is expected to continue until the Fall 2024. The road will be accessible to local traffic only during construction. Detour routes are available to the north and south on 37th Avenue and 25th Avenue,” a City of Vernon news release stated.

Motorists are asked to slow down if travelling near the area and obey all traffic control signage.

Funding for the project is provided, in part, by the Government of Canada, through the Federal Gas Tax Fund.
