More snow expected on mountain passes

May 21, 2024 | 12:30 PM

Environment Canada is forecasting more snow in the local mountain passes.

A special weather statement issued Tuesday forecasts snow on the Okanagan Connector, Coquihalla Highway, Allison Pass and Kootenay Pass.

The weather agency said a cool airmass is moving through the southern Interior, and it’s expected to bring snowfall Tuesday night through to Wednesday morning,

Two to four centimetres of snow is expected to accumulate overnight, though more may fall in the higher elevations.

Environment Canada warns that weather can change suddenly in mountain passes, and advises travellers be prepared for changing, check road conditions at DriveBC and plan routes accordingly, and drive to conditions.
