The North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) is once again holding its “Hike for Hospice” fundraising event, this time at the DND Grounds in Vernon.

On Saturday, May 11, that site will be a hub of activity as participants gather for the annual event to support those living with life-limiting illness and needing palliative care in the community.

“We’re excited to be at a new location this year for our Hike for Hospice,” NOHS Executive Director Lisa Matthews, said. “We look forward to seeing everyone – families, pets, all age groups – join our hike this year.”

To kick off the day, the Lions Club will be serving up a pancake breakfast and Ratio Coffee will be onsite starting at 9 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the hike kicks off across the DND grounds.

“And in honour of NOHS’ 40th anniversary in 2024, we’re going with a 1980s theme, so please wear your most colourful and fun hiking gear,” Matthews advised.

And for those who love a challenge, there are prizes to be won. Engage in the corporate challenge, show off your creativity with the best-dressed competition, or aim for the title of the individual who raised the most funds.

Registration for the Hike for Hospice is now open online.

Registration can also take place on-site on May 11, starting at 9 a.m.

The NOHS is a registered charity that operates a 12-bed palliative care facility in Vernon for residents of the North Okanagan.
