The Silver Star Road multi-use path project in Vernon is nearly complete.

City crews will be on site as early as Monday, April 29, to wrap-up the project with the final touches, including raising manholes in preparation for the top surface paving between East Dedecker Road and L&A Road.

The final paving will then be done, with the goal of enhancing the multi-use path and providing improved accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists to the Foothills area.

The City of Vernon said construction is expected to be complete by May 13.

During the final phase of the projects, a detour will be in place to south-west bound motorists via East Dedecker Road, L&A Road and Rimer Road People heading northeast will be able to use Silver Star Road with variable detours at L&A Road.

Residents in the area are advised to use caution when entering and exiting their properties and to follow the detour routes, while motorists are reminded to slow down in construction and detour zones and obey all traffic control measures.

Work on the 1.2 kilometre pathway started in late February 2022, and was constructed in two phases.

The project was estimated to cost $5.9 million at the time it started, but costs increased by about $831,000 for the second phase due to the impact of inflation on construction costs.
