Winter Carnival looking for new members

The Vernon Winter Carnival Society holds its annual general meeting this month and is looking for more people to help organize the annual mid-winter festival.

“If you are interested in joining a fun, working board, this could be for you. We host and plan approximately 24 events for the Vernon Winter Carnival,” a carnival news release stated.

The 2025 Carnival is scheduled for Feb. 7-16.

“We are seeking a couple new board members and if you are interested, please email hello@vernonwintercarnival.com,” the society said.

Carnival’s AGM is set for Wednesday, April 24, at the Elks Hall 45 upstairs (3103 30th Street) at 6 p.m.

“Our annual AGM is here. It is open to all society members and you can become a member for just $2 (that is our annual fee, and you can pay at the door on the evening of the 24,” the news release said.

Carnival’s current board includes: Laurell Cornell, chair; Leah Martel, vice chair; Boris Ivanoff, treasurer; Lisa Fenyedi, secretary; Camille McCluskey, Colin Hamilton, Jason Keis, Josh Welter, Jessica Dowswell, Peter Kaz, Rod Koenig, Renee Wohl, Todd Prentice, Tina Kealey and Roel Van de Crommenacker

Vernon Winter Carnival has been held every year since 1961.
