Applications opening for Vernon Council Discretionary Grants

Organizations that serve the public can soon apply for funds fro the City of Vernon.

The city is opening its Council Discretionary Grant Application process, allowing groups and organizations that contribute to the general interest and quality of life for Vernonites to apply for financial aid.

In order to qualify for the grants, applicants must be:

  • community based
  • provide a unique service not available through any other group or organization
  • not have received any city of regional funding within the current fiscal year
  • a non-profit organization or registered society, and
  • must not have applied for city funds within the calendar year.

The discretionary grant policy details can be found at the city’s website.

The application intake period will open on April 1, with the deadline for submissions set for 4:30 p.m., April 30.

Application forms, which can be found here, must be signed and completed and submitted along with the most recent set of financial statements, the minutes from the most recent annual general meeting, a list of members of the executive, confirmation of registered society status, and a profile and history of the organization and its accomplishments.

The recipients of the grants will be selected at the discretion of Vernon city council.
