Vernon resident to receive federal award for community contributions
A local volunteer leader will be recognized for his community work.
Norm Crerar has been named the recipient of Canada’s Volunteer Awards in the community leader category for British Columbia.
Crerar, who moved to Vernon in 1981, was instrumental in developing Silver Star Mountain into the resort that draws people from around the world for year-round outdoor activities.
His first community work was developing the Silver Star Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, of which he was a member from 1984 to 2015.
