Vernon increasing on-street parking fees

Parking on Vernon’s roads is getting a bit more expensive.
At the regular meeting Monday, Feb. 12, Vernon City Council heard that the hourly cost for on-street parking should increase from $1 to $1.25.
“We haven’t seen an increase for a number of years, so it makes sense to at least align with adjacent communities,” Darren Lees, Vernon’s Protective Services Manager, told council.
“With the increase of a quarter that basically equates to a quarter for 12 minutes versus 15, plus you’re getting your grace period of five minute as well.”
