The Vernon Vipers did not disappoint a sold-out crowd at Kal Tire Place Saturday night, defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-2 in BC Hockey League action.

Ethan David turned aside 33 shots to earn first star honours for the Vipers before 3,156 fans, which the team says was the largest turn-out of the season.

“Viper fans you have been AMAZING this season! We can’t thank you enough for your tremendous support! Last night the largest crowd of the season – 3156!!! A standing room only sell-out! Our fans are ‘SIMPLY THE BEST,'” the team said on social media.

The Vipers got goals from five different players: Payton Struck, Noah Dorey, Adam Csabi, Georgios Stavrianeas and Julian Facchinelli.

Marcus Broberg and JJ Monteiro replied for the SBacks.

The win snapped a two game losing skid and improved the Vipers record to 22-14-1-0 for 45 points, keeping them in fourth place in the Interior Conference, 5 points back of the third place Silverbacks.

The Snakes play their next three games on the road, starting against the Victoria Grizzlies Friday, Feb. 9 and then the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Feb. 10.
