The Vernon Vipers have added some offense to their blueline.

Etienne Lessard, a defenceman from Blainville, QC, has been signed by the BC Hockey League team.

He had 6 goals and 29 assists in 22 games with the Cornwall Colts of the Central Canada Hockey League.

The 19-year-old (born 2004) defender recently represented Team Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge In Truro, Nova Scota, where he collected 6 assists in 6 games.

“Etienne is a skilled offensive defenceman that will come in and add a puck moving dynamic to our back end,” Jason McKee, Vipers head coach and GM, said. “Our staff looks forward to working with Etienne in achieving his long term goals of becoming a Division 1 College player.”

The 5’9, 168 pound right-shot D-man could make his Vipers debut Friday at home to the Cranbrook Bucks.

“I’m very excited to join the Vernon Vipers,” Lessard said. “I will give my 100 per cent to help the team win and I can’t wait to get started.”
