The Regional District of North Okanagan is preparing for future community growth with the purchase of a property.

Through the White Valley Parks, Recreation and Culture Service, the RDNO acquired the two-plus acre property at 1217 Highway 6 in Cherryville.

The Regional District stated the property in Electoral Area E would position the community to meet the needs as the population grows.

“This is a great step in facilitating the continuity and expansion of services that brings Cherryville together,” Jim Johnson, Electoral Area E Director, stated.

“It provides the platform for the community to come together and envision what it wants for recreation, culture and protective services”

Further planning will be required to identify key community priorities for the site, but as of time of publication, several potential opportunities were already under consideration including a library, a museum, and a community fire equipment storage facility.
