Over $5,000 raised for charity at SilverStar Light Up

The annual Light Up at SilverStar Mountain Resort raised over half of this year’s charity campaign goal.

A release from the resort said the annual Christmas Light Up and opening weekend saw over $5,000 in community donations for the Good Food Box – School Food Box Program.

SilverStar stated the contributions account for more than half of the $10,000 goal the resort hopes to raise for the cause through public donations over the winter.

The Good Food Box is a non-profit organization that supports families, seniors and individuals access groceries and produce when they can’t afford food.

The money donated by members of the public through the resort will be matched by both the SilverStar Play Forever Fund and by an anonymous donour with the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan, effectively trippling the donations and putting the Good Food Box on track to meeting its goal of raising $38,000 to feed North Okanagan residents over the next 10 months.
