Dec 10, 2023 | 7:30 PM

The road was not a warm and friendly place for the Vernon Vipers in the BC Hockey League this weekend.

The Snakes dropped both games away from Kal Tire Place, falling 5-2 to the Trail Smoke Eaters Friday before 1,334 fans at the Cominco Arena.

On Sunday afternoon, the West Kelowna Warriors scored four in the first period, en route to a 7-3 victory over the Vipers before a crowd of 891 at Royal LePage Place.

West Palm Beach, Florida product Jackson Kyrkostas lit the red light three times for the Warriors and was named the game’s first star.

Vernon product Erik Pastro, with his 11th goal of the season, Adam Csabi of Czechia, with his 13th, and Edina, MN’s Nick Mikan scored for Vernon on Sunday.

The Warriors have overtaken their North Okanagan rivals for second place in the Interior Conference standings with 36 points to Vernon’s 33. The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are tied with Vernon for third with 33 points as well.

The Penticton Vees lead the conference and BCHL with 42 points

The Vipers (16-8-1-0) play their final home game before the holiday break Tuesday versus the Silverbacks at 7 p.m.
