Dec 1, 2023 | 1:00 PM

The Interior’s COVID-19 situation saw some fluctuations on a weekly basis.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported there were 112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections in the Interior Health region between Nov. 19 and 25.

That was up from the week of Nov. 12 to 18 when 101 cases were confirmed.

There were 17 people admitted to hospital with the virus in the most recent reporting week, including three who needed treatment in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The COVID hospitalization total was down from the previous week’s 19 admissions, though that week also only had two patients admitted to ICU with the virus.

The BCCDC’s report stated there were three deaths linked to COVID in the Interior between Nov. 19 and 25, down from nine the week prior.

The province, as a whole, saw similar trends in the most recent report.

The BCCDC stated there were 370 COVID-19 cases; 126 hospital admissions, including 24 into ICU; and 14 deaths linked to the virus between Nov. 19 and 25.

The case figure was up from the previous week’s 363.

Hospitalizations were down from the 136 the week prior, though ICU admissions were up from 21 between Nov. 12 and 18.

There were 14 deaths linked to COVID-19 across the province in the most recent week, down from 37 the week prior.

The Interior had the highest case total in the most recent week, followed by Fraser Health (111) and Vancouver Island Health (73).

Fraser Health had the highest hospital admission totals in the most recent week (57), as well as the highest weekly death toll (6).

The BCCDC noted the most recent death figures are preliminary and will be updated prior to next week’s report.
