Coldstream backs Sunday library openings

The District of Coldstream will again join forces with the City of Vernon to allow the local library to open on Sundays over the winter.

Coldstream council will provide $4,233 to the city to support continued Sunday hours in 2024 at the Okanagan Regional Library.

The district has provided the funding since 2015.

The library branch in downtown Vernon is open from 12 – 4 p.m. on Sundays from October to March.

Here are other highlights from Coldstream council’s Nov. 27 meeting:

Five-Year Pavement Management Plan Bike Lane Construction

Council directed administration to include their 5-Year Pavement Management Plan in the draft 2024 Budget.

The plan included direction for administration to proceed with the design for widening Husband Road from the Mariposa Place/Sunflower Place intersection to 12707 Husband Road to accommodate a bike lane at a cost of up to $330,000 to be funded by the Community Works Fund.

Changes to Council Meeting Schedule

Council approved the following changes to the 2024 meeting schedule:

March 11 and September 9, 2024 meetings will be held at the Lavington Fire Hall, 9739 School Road;

September 16, 2024 cancelled (due to the 2024 UBCM Convention); and

December 23, 2024 cancelled.

North Kalamalka Lake Planning Committee Meeting

Council scheduled the next meeting of the North Kalamalka Lake Planning Committee (Head of the Lake Plan Advisory Committee) for 4 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
