VSS Panthers advance to provincial final

The Vernon Senior Secondary Panthers varsity football team have booked a date for the AA provincial finals.

Quarterback Cole Budgen was nearly flawless in Saturday’s semi-final 37-8 victory over the Nechako Vikings from Vanderhoof at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

John Barsby Secondary from Nanaimo defeated North Vancouver’s Windsor Secondary 28-9 to advance to the final against Vernon.

John Barsby is the number one ranked team in the west division, while Vernon is the number one ranked team in the Interior division.

The game will be live streamed on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. from BC Place.

Saturday was a big day for VSS football teams as the Junior Panthers advanced to their provincial AA junior varsity final with a 52-12 win over Robert Bateman Secondary of Abbotsford in a semi-final on Saturday.

The Junior Panthers will play Ballenas Secondary of Parksville for the B.C. title at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at BC Place.
